Wagering requirements explained (with real casino examples)

A wagering requirement is how much you must bet before you can withdraw a bonus or the winnings from it. It is a multiple of the bonus, the deposit, or both: 40x a €100 deposit means €4,000 in total bets. Game contributions, time limits and maximum bets decide how hard that is.

The formula

Wagering requirement = multiplier × base. The base can be the bonus, the deposit, or deposit plus bonus — and that changes the total a lot:

€100 deposit + €100 bonusBaseTo wager
40x the bonus€100€4,000
40x the deposit€100€4,000
40x deposit + bonus€200€8,000

Real examples

Betpanda: 40x the deposit within 7 days

Betpanda’s welcome bonus is 100% of your first deposit, but nothing is credited up front: you wager your deposit 40 times within 7 days and the bonus is then paid as cash. Deposit €100 and that’s €4,000 in bets. The maximum bet that counts is €50 per round; slots count 100% and live games only 20%, so €4,000 wagered on live games would count as €800.

Rainbet: 40x deposit + bonus, or no wagering at all

On Rainbet’s “Wager Locked” path, the requirement is 40x the deposit plus the bonus. A $100 first deposit with a 100% bonus means $8,000 in bets, with a maximum bet of 2% of the deposit ($2). The alternative, “No Wager Lock”, releases the bonus gradually as you play and it is withdrawable as it unlocks, with no rollover.

Stake: wager each deposit once

Stake has no public welcome bonus, but every deposit must be wagered 100% before you can withdraw it. Where a partner code adds a deposit bonus, Stake says the multiplier “varies depending on your affiliation”; its own example — a $100 deposit plus $100 bonus at 30x — comes to $6,000 in bets.

BC.GAME: check before you claim

We couldn’t confirm the current wagering on BC.GAME’s welcome package: sources disagree and it changes by region and code. Check the offer page before you deposit.

What actually makes a requirement hard

What it costs on average

A quick way to estimate it: theoretical average cost ≈ total to wager × house edge. Wagering €4,000 on 96% RTP slots (a 4% house edge) costs about €160 on average. If the bonus is worth less than that, it doesn’t pay on average. That’s an average — real results swing a lot. More in our guide to RTP.
